A brief introduction to the drawbacks of the heavy-board feeder.
The heavy-duty apron feeder is primarily used beneath hoppers and bins that maintain a certain level of material storage pressure. It is ideal for uniformly and continuously conveying various bulk materials over short distances to a wide range of crushing, screening, and conveying equipment—particularly before primary crushing stages. This machine is suitable not only for coarse-grained materials but also for fine-grained materials. It can handle heavy-duty operations in harsh environments and ensures consistent and accurate material feed rates despite variations in particle size and composition. During operation, it is strictly prohibited for empty materials or oversized materials to directly impact the surface of the chain plates.

The heavy-duty feeder has drawbacks:
1. The drive board’s chain structure is complex, with numerous pin-and-bushing components, making maintenance difficult and resulting in high maintenance and parts costs.
2. The entire machine is heavy, and the procurement cost is high.
3. The transmission chain plates are relatively heavy, resulting in significant mechanical friction during operation of the entire machine and requiring a larger driving power; consequently, energy consumption is also higher.
4. The motor has high power and generates significant operating noise, especially the running sound between the plate chain and sprockets, as well as between the plate chain and pins.
5. This equipment is not suitable for applications involving large quantities of fine ore or high feed rates. It is a heavy-duty plate-type feeder conforming to the national machinery industry standard JB/T 4040-1999: BZ1000—BZ3150. The recommended belt speed is 0.02–0.2 m/s. Based on these proportions—with a trough width of 3,000 mm, a belt speed of 0.2 m/s, a material density of 2 tons/cubic meter, and a material layer thickness of 800 mm—the maximum feed rate is 2,456 tons/hour. To achieve even higher feed rates, the only option is to increase the belt speed. However, when the belt speed of this heavy-duty plate-type feeder exceeds 0.2 m/s, wear and damage to transmission components such as chain plates will accelerate significantly, thereby reducing the overall service life of the machine.
6. During operation, the chain plates are prone to material leakage, especially beneath them, causing significant trouble for daily use and on-site management, and prompting widespread complaints from workers.
7. Since the heavy-duty feeder requires high lubrication standards and its transmission drive components are relatively heavy, if the grease supply cannot keep up, it will easily dry out, cause wear, and damage the bearings.
8. The installation requirements are extremely high. According to the industry standards set by the National Ministry of Machinery, for heavy-duty plate-type feeding machines, the perpendicularity of the drive sprocket axis relative to the centerline of the frame’s length direction shall be 1/1000 of the bearing span; the horizontal levelness shall be 0.15/1000. Furthermore, the horizontal and longitudinal levelness of the generating lines of each support roller shall also be 1/1000. Coupled with the relatively heavy weight of the equipment itself, the overall installation summary is as follows: Ignoring cost considerations, the equipment is heavy and expensive; it requires a large motor power, resulting in high operating costs; there is severe leakage of fine ore particles; maintenance is difficult and costly; and downtime for inspection and repair is excessively long.
