Introduction to the Leaching Tank
Leaching tank It refers to a liquid-solid reactor capable of performing leaching operations under atmospheric pressure and at temperatures below 373 K. In nonferrous metal extraction metallurgy, the leaching tanks commonly used include percolation tanks, compressed-air agitated tanks, mechanically agitated tanks, combined air-and-mechanical agitated tanks, and Kammeyer towers. The selection of a leaching tank primarily takes into account factors such as the properties of the leaching material, the scale of operation, and energy consumption.
The leaching tank is an important piece of equipment for leaching. Leaching tank The capacity typically ranges from 50 to 100 m³, and there is currently a trend toward larger-scale designs. Tanks with capacities ranging from 120 to 400 m³ have already been put into industrial use. Leaching tanks are classified into mechanically stirred tanks and air-stirred tanks. In mechanically stirred tanks, a propeller driven by a motor stirs the pulp, whereas in air-stirred tanks, compressed air is used to stir the pulp.
Leaching tank Typically made of concrete or steel plates, these tanks are lined with acid-resistant materials such as lead, tiles, or epoxy fiberglass. Practice has shown that when air agitation is used, the equipment has a simple structure and corrosion resistance is relatively easy to achieve; however, power consumption is high. In contrast, when mechanical agitation is employed, the equipment design is more complex, yet its power consumption is less than half that of the former.
The vertical mechanical agitator tank is a widely used type of agitator in wet-process zinc smelting and leaching operations. This equipment can operate either at atmospheric pressure or under pressure. These medium- and small-sized agitator tanks have already been standardized in China and are suitable for mass production. A vertical mechanical agitator tank consists of an agitating device, a tank body, and agitating accessories. For detailed structural information, refer to the description of the vertical mechanical agitator tank. In large-scale zinc calcine leaching agitator tanks, the tank body is typically constructed using compacted concrete, with an inner lining made of corrosion-resistant materials such as epoxy glass fiber reinforced plastic or acid-resistant tiles (or panels).
